The Fledgling Demon Lord's Starter Shop premieres in January 2027 on TOKYO MX, MBS, BS11 and other channels. On October 6, 2026, the anime released its second teaser PV, a key visual and a third cast member: Yohei Azakami as the hero Ash.
Known in Japan as Sudachi no Maoujou, it's a fantasy comedy about what happens to an item shop after the world has already been saved. Here's the new PV, the story, the cast and the staff.

The series starts in January 2027 on TOKYO MX, MBS, BS11 and other channels. The exact date and time slot haven't been announced, and no streaming service has been named yet.
The anime was first announced on June 25, 2026, with a teaser PV and the two lead actors.

The 66-second video is the second teaser, and it reveals the voice of the third main character. Ash, the hero who defeated the demon lord, joins the shopkeeper Murabito and the former demon lord Mao.
The official description sets up the three of them the same way. Each comes from a different background and carries a different worry, and the show is about how they learn to lean on each other. It promises a fantasy comedy that makes you laugh and cry.

What Is The Fledgling Demon Lord's Starter Shop About?#
Ten years have passed since the hero defeated the demon lord and peace returned to the world.
That's bad news for one small business. In Saisho Village, nicknamed the "Level 1 village," adventurers once stocked up before setting out on their journeys. Now nobody needs potions, and the item shop Sudachi-ya stands empty.
Its owner, Murabito, refuses to close. He took the shop over from his late father, and he believes it's the legendary store where the hero made his very first purchase. So he keeps it open, and pays the bills with odd jobs.
Then a mysterious girl walks in. She has golden eyes, the mark of the demon race, and meeting her turns Murabito's ordinary life upside down.
Cast and Characters#
- Reiji Kawashima as Murabito, a villager and the manager of the item shop. Meeting Mao leaves him fated to inherit the title of demon lord.
- Rumi Okubo as Mao, a girl of the demon race. Her full name is Mao Maou the 776th, and she claims to be the 776th demon lord, who supposedly died ten years ago.
- Yohei Azakami as Ash, a mysterious young man who has just moved to the village and ends up working at the shop. He may be the hero who defeated the demon lord.
Azakami is the new addition. In a comment, Azakami says the story heads somewhere completely unexpected, and that every episode moves at a ferocious pace between gags and serious moments.
All three are busy elsewhere too. Kawashima leads Houkago no Idol ni wa Himitsu ga Aru. Okubo plays Marie in Goddess with Zero Believers. Azakami appears in The Case Files of Biblia Bookstore.

The Manga Behind the Anime#
Makoto Morishita launched the manga in Kodansha's Monthly Shonen Magazine in October 2021. The 12th volume came out in Japan in January 2026.
Morishita says the idea began as a daydream: running an item shop in an RPG world must be tough once peace arrives.
Kodansha publishes the manga in English on its K MANGA service. The English edition calls Murabito "Villager" and his shop "The Nest."
