When does The Remarried Empress anime come out?#
The Remarried Empress will air on Japanese television in 2027. That is as specific as the announcement gets. No month, season, TV network or streaming service has been named yet.

The Remarried Empress PV#
The first PV runs 65 seconds. It arrives with the line that gives the series its title: "I accept this divorce. And I request an approval of my remarriage."
What is The Remarried Empress about?#
Navier was raised from childhood to become an empress. She entered a political marriage with her childhood friend Sovieshu and became the "perfect empress" of the Eastern Empire.
Then Sovieshu meets Rashta, a runaway slave, during a hunt. He brings her to the palace as his concubine, turns cold toward Navier and finally demands a divorce so he can marry Rashta.
Navier accepts. In the same breath, she asks for approval to remarry Heinrey, the prince of the neighboring Western Kingdom. Around her are a cold emperor, harassment from Rashta's allies and a web of political schemes.
The Remarried Empress anime cast and characters#
Four main cast members were announced, each with a character art piece built around a flower.
Navier: Yoko Hikasa (Mio Akiyama in K-On!). Empress of the Eastern Empire. She can seem cold, but she cares deeply for her people and her attendants. Her comfort is a beautiful bird named Queen and the letters she trades with its owner. Her flower is the red rose.
Heinrey: Ryohei Kimura (Ryota Kise in Kuroko's Basketball). First in line to the throne of the Western Kingdom. Rumor paints him as a playboy. He falls for Navier at the Eastern Empire's New Year celebration. His flower is the sweet pea.
Sovieshu: Tomoaki Maeno (White Blood Cell in Cells at Work!). Emperor of the Eastern Empire and Navier's husband. Once a rational ruler, he dotes on Rashta and neglects his empress. His flower is the lily.
Rashta: Reina Ueda (Reze in Chainsaw Man). A runaway slave with angelic looks who becomes the emperor's concubine and hides her past. She calls Navier "sister" without being asked. Her flower is baby's breath.

The Remarried Empress began as a web novel by Alphatart. The webtoon version, drawn by SUMPUL and adapted by HereLee, is the one being animated.
In English, the webtoon is on WEBTOON, and Ize Press publishes the print edition. In Japan it runs on LINE Manga. The series has been translated into 10 languages and had 2.97 billion views worldwide as of July 2026.
The main story ended in January 2026 after seven years, so the anime adapts a finished work. Side stories are due to start this fall. A live-action Korean drama also premieres on November 4, 2026, on Disney+ and Hulu.
