Where to Watch PSYREN#
Crunchyroll holds the rights everywhere except Japan and China. The deal was announced at Japan Expo in July 2026. The official international site lists IVI alongside it.
You can also catch it early in a cinema. PSYREN is one of five shows in the Crunchyroll Anime Nights SNEAK PEEK event on Monday, September 21. It plays at more than 280 theaters across the United States and Canada, at 7 p.m. local time, in Japanese with English subtitles. The other four are Black Clover Season 2, Overgeared, Firefly Wedding and The Vermilion Mask.
Watch the PSYREN Main PV#
The 76-second main PV arrived on September 11, a date chosen with some care. It is Public Telephone Day in Japan, and a public phone box is where the whole story starts. The video opens with Ageha using the red telephone card to look for Sakurako. From there it cuts to Hiryu Asaga and the others thrown into the Psyren world, with the psychic power known as PSI going off around them.
The response dwarfed the teasers. Here is how the three official videos compare:
| Video | Released | YouTube views |
|---|---|---|
| Teaser PV 1 | December 14, 2025 | 488,000+ |
| Teaser PV 2 | June 17, 2026 | 582,000+ |
| Main PV | September 11, 2026 | 1,171,000+ |
The main PV passed a million views in nine days. That is more than the two teasers have gathered between them in nine months. There is an English-subtitled version of the same trailer if you'd rather follow the dialogue.
What Is PSYREN About?#
Ageha Yoshina is a first-year high school student who picks up a mysterious red phone card left behind in a public telephone box.
Days later his childhood friend and classmate, Sakurako Amamiya, vanishes without a trace. She had the same card. Searching for her pulls Ageha into the rumors around a nationwide string of disappearances, all pinned on a secret organization known only as Psyren.
He dials in, and a deadly game begins. The players are thrown into a ruined future world and left to survive its creatures. Psychic abilities called PSI are their only edge, and the ruins hold the answer to what happened here.
PSYREN Characters and Voice Cast#
- Rikuya Yasuda as Ageha Yoshina, a Shirataki High first-year who is quick with his fists but fiercely loyal to his friends
- Mayuko Kazama as Sakurako Amamiya, his childhood friend, once popular and now nicknamed the Ice Queen for keeping everyone at a distance
- Shunsuke Takeuchi as Hiryu Asaga, nicknamed Dragon, a huge and surprisingly level-headed first-year searching for a missing underclassman
- Soma Saito as Oboro Mochizuki, a 21-year-old rising actor and melon bread enthusiast with a dangerous appetite for excitement
- Yukihiro Nozuyama as Kabuto Kirisaki, a carefree 19-year-old who loves money and girls and avoids hard work
- Yuhko Kaida as Matsuri Yagumo, Sakurako's mentor
- Nobuyuki Hiyama as Dolkey, the enemy who stands in Ageha's way
Matsuri and Dolkey were the two names added with the main PV. Kaida describes Matsuri as a big sister figure, a heavy drinker who is worth relying on. Hiyama calls Dolkey a refreshingly straightforward villain.

Opening Theme Song#
The opening is "WARNING!!" by CLAN QUEEN, a three-piece unit that calls its own approach art rock. The band moved to Sony Music Labels in April 2026 and plays its biggest headline show at Tokyo Garden Theater in December.
AOi of CLAN QUEEN wrote the song for the series. The idea, in AOi's words, was pushing past your limit and still reaching out while alarms go off inside your body.
The Manga Behind the Anime#
Toshiaki Iwashiro serialized PSYREN in Weekly Shonen Jump from 2008 to 2010. It ran 161 chapters over 16 volumes, with two spin-off novels.
The series never faded after it ended. It was nominated three times in AnimeJapan's "manga we want to see animated" poll. That steady demand is a large part of why an adaptation arrived 15 years late.
Viz Media released all 16 volumes in English between 2011 and 2014, in print and digitally. The full story is there to read now.
For the rest of the season, see our 2026 anime hub.
