What Is Firefly Wedding About?#
It's the Meiji era, a time when women were treated as the property of their families. Satoko Kirigaya is the daughter of a count, born into a prominent house and blessed with beauty. She is also frail, and her doctors have told her she doesn't have long to live.
Her dream is to marry into a respected family and make her father proud. Then one night, she is kidnapped as part of someone's scheme.
The man sent to kill her is an assassin named Shinpei Goto. Facing certain death, Satoko tells him a desperate lie on the spot: they should get married, and if he marries her, he will have everything.
Shinpei takes her at her word. He falls for her completely, calling her the one he was destined for, and his love quickly turns obsessive. Satoko is left torn between the duty she was raised for and her growing feelings for the man who came to end her life.
