Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest begins airing on TBS in 2027, with worldwide exclusive streaming on Netflix. The TV anime released its first PV on October 8, 2026, along with a key visual and its lead actor, Tomohiro Ono.
Known in Japan as Hokuhokusei ni Kumo to Ike, it's a mystery set in Iceland about a 17-year-old detective who can talk to cars. Here's the PV, the story, the cast and the team behind it.

The Key Visual#
The key visual puts Kei on an open Icelandic road, hand on his cap, with seabirds wheeling around him. His car and a sheep wait on the road behind.
The whole scene is tilted at a steep angle. The official site says the design is meant to recall the cover of the manga's first volume.
What Is Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest About?#
The story is set in Iceland, at "Land's End," 64 degrees north. It's a place where the sun shows for 21 hours a day in summer and only four in winter.
Kei Miyama is a 17-year-old from Japan who lives there with his grandfather. He has three secrets. He can talk to cars. He's bad around girls. And he works as a detective.
One job has him bringing back a runaway dog. Another has him tracking down the person a client fell for at first sight. He takes them on from behind the wheel of his beloved Jimny.
The official character profile calls Kei handsome but no good with alcohol, cigarettes or girls. He does detective work to cover his living costs, and because he hates being bored. His favorite things include cars, meat, coffee, ramen, driving, reading and running.
Cast and Characters#

Ono is the only cast member announced so far. In a comment on the official site, Ono describes Kei as calm and a little blunt, but too kind to leave someone in trouble.
Ono also points to the manga's pull: Iceland's vast scenery, the mystery around the characters, and a story that moves at a relaxed pace until an unexpected twist lands.

Irie shared a short message when the anime was announced on April 28, 2026: "If you want to see Kei and Lilja move and talk, look forward to it. I'm sure it will take you to Iceland."
The Manga Behind the Anime#
Aki Irie launched the manga in the magazine Harta in 2016. It later moved to Kadokawa's Aokishi, and the original run fills seven volumes in Japan.
The series now continues under a new publisher, Yukiwariso. The first volume of that continuation went on sale in Japan on April 30, 2026.
The manga had more than 1.6 million copies in circulation as of April 16, 2026. In English, Kodansha USA publishes it as Go with the Clouds, North-by-Northwest.
