Walking Home with You Anime: April 2027 Release Date, Teaser Visual and Story

Walking Home with You airs on Nippon TV in April 2027. The TV anime, known in Japan as Houkago Kitaku Biyori, opened its official site on October 7, 2026 with a teaser visual and its broadcast month.

It's a school romantic comedy about a club whose only activity is going home. Here's the release window, the visual, the story and the manga behind it.

When Does Walking Home with You Come Out?#

The anime premieres in April 2027 on Nippon TV in Japan. The day of the week, the time slot and the episode count haven't been announced.

No streaming service outside Japan has been named either.

The adaptation was first revealed in March 2025, without a format. The new site confirms it's a TV series.

The Teaser Visual#

The first visual shows Naoki Sato leaning into frame with a smile, cherry blossom petals drifting past her. She's waiting at the school gate, and the official site teases the obvious question: who is she waiting for?

Look behind her and you'll spot a black tail poking into view. The site tells fans to keep an eye on it.

The tagline on the visual reads: "The requirement for joining the club is walking home with me."

Mai Matsuda's Celebration Illustration#

Manga creator Mai Matsuda drew a new illustration to mark the news. Naoki points a stick straight at the viewer while Shun leans in beside her with a peace sign, confetti falling around them.

Matsuda's handwritten note on it reads: "I'm really looking forward to it! The Hyper Go-Home Club is going to move, talk and head home!"

What Is Walking Home with You About?#

Shun Sato is a new high school student whose soccer career ended with a leg injury. Worn down by sports clubs that keep trying to recruit him, he mutters, "I want to go home."

That one line is all Naoki Sato needs. She's a year above him, her own catchphrase is "I want to go home," and she more or less drags him into her "Hyper Go-Home Club."

The club has one main activity: going home. In Japan, the "go-home club" is slang for students who skip after-school clubs and head straight home, and Naoki runs hers like a real club.

Shun is puzzled by his odd senior and her suspicious club at first. Bit by bit, he starts to look forward to the end of the school day.

Cast, Staff and Studio#

The cast, the staff and the animation studio haven't been announced. The official site says cast news is on the way.

There's no promotional video yet. The teaser visual and Matsuda's illustration are the only artwork released for the anime so far.

The Manga Behind the Anime#

Mai Matsuda launched the manga in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine in August 2023. It also runs on the publisher's Web Action service.

Six volumes are out in Japan, and the seventh goes on sale on October 8, 2026. The series also won the Nichirei sponsor prize at the Next Manga Award 2025.

In English, digital manga publisher Omoi has licensed the series as Walking Home with You. Matsuda previously drew Hikaru in the Light!, which ran in the same magazine from 2021 to 2022.
