Inept Villainess Anime Part 2: Teaser PV and January 2027

Though I Am an Inept Villainess returns for its second cour in January 2027. On October 23, 2026, the anime released a teaser PV for The First Royal Outing arc. This arc takes Reirin and Keigetsu out of the palace for the first time.

The anime adapts Satsuki Nakamura's light novels, published in English by Seven Seas as Though I Am an Inept Villainess: Tale of the Butterfly-Rat Body Swap in the Maiden Court. Here's the PV, the key visual, the new cast and the story of Part 2.

When does Though I Am an Inept Villainess Part 2 come out?#

The second cour starts airing in January 2027, according to the official site. The exact date and broadcast slots have not been announced yet.

Second cour teaser PV#

The teaser PV runs 1 minute 21 seconds on the TOHO animation YouTube channel. The official post teases the new setting: "Next stage: the southern territory of the Shu clan. A new curtain rises."

Part 2 key visual#

The key visual announces the start of the second act, The First Royal Outing. Reirin and Keigetsu stand at the front in their court robes, with other characters from the arc arranged in panels behind them.

What happens in The First Royal Outing arc?#

After the curse in the inner palace is resolved, Reirin and Keigetsu begin to understand each other. A friendship starts to grow. In early autumn, the southern territory ruled by Keigetsu's Shu clan is chosen to host the harvest festival. There, the crown prince and the maidens pray for a good harvest.

Keigetsu works hard to prepare as host without a consort to guide her. Reirin, meanwhile, is thrilled about her first trip outside the palace. But an incident stops the ceremony soon after they arrive. Keigetsu's magic goes out of control, and the two swap bodies again.

In the chaos, Reirin, now in Keigetsu's body, is kidnapped by a mysterious figure. Reirin's two overprotective older brothers get pulled in, and a new mastermind starts plotting against Keigetsu.

New cast for Part 2#

Manaka Iwami returns as Reirin and Natsumi Kawaida as Keigetsu, along with the rest of the main cast.

The first cour and where to watch#

The first cour premiered on TV Tokyo on July 12, 2026. Crunchyroll streamed it as it aired in many regions, and TOHO released an English dub on Crunchyroll, Hulu and Disney+. Netflix streamed the series in Asia. Streaming plans for Part 2 have not been announced.

The light novels and manga#

Satsuki Nakamura's light novels launched in December 2020 with illustrations by YukiKana. A manga by Ei Ohitsuji started at the same time. The novels entered their final arc with volume 13 on September 30, 2026. Seven Seas publishes both in English.
