The Beginning After the End comic is going on hiatus after Chapter 259, which comes out on October 29, 2026. Creator TurtleMe announced the break on October 22, saying that Tapas' announced closure affects all of the platform's original productions.

Why is The Beginning After the End going on hiatus?#

In a statement posted on X, TurtleMe wrote that "with Tapas' announced closure affecting all original productions," The Beginning After the End will go on hiatus after Chapter 259 on October 29.

TurtleMe said there are no answers yet about what comes next, but that the work to get them continues. "I know this isn't the first time we've been here," TurtleMe wrote, adding that the team is confident it will overcome this hurdle and will keep doing everything possible to continue the comic.

TurtleMe also thanked readers who have been spending their remaining Ink on TBATE in recent weeks. The statement encourages anyone with Ink left to use it on their favorite creators, and promises an update as soon as there is something to share.

When will The Beginning After the End return?#

There is no return date and no announced new home for the comic. TurtleMe's statement does not say whether the comic will move to another platform.

The comic began on Tapas in July 2018. The series page credits Tapas Entertainment, TurtleMe and MGK-Story, and lists more than 53 million views and 558,000 subscribers as of October 2026.

Why is Tapas shutting down?#

Kakao Entertainment, which acquired Tapas in 2021, announced on September 22 that it would shut down the North American webtoon platform, according to Anime News Network.

On October 1, Tapas posted its End of Service Notice. "After more than a decade, the very difficult decision to wind down the Tapas platform has been made," it reads. The end of service date is March 31, 2027.

What the Tapas closure means for readers#

The End of Service FAQ lists the key points:

• No new Ink: Ink, including free Ink, can no longer be bought or earned since October 1, 2026.

• Last day for Ink and unlocks: March 31, 2027 at 11:59 p.m. PT.

• No access after closure: the platform and all previously unlocked content become inaccessible after March 31, 2027.

• No transfers: unlocked content cannot be moved to Kakao Page, Kakao Webtoon or other Kakao services.

• No refunds: Ink transactions are final under the refund policy.

• No sales: there are no plans for more sales or events, and prices stay the same.

Readers can request a copy of their account and personal data by emailing Tapas.

Will other Tapas comics go on hiatus?#

TurtleMe's statement says the closure affects all Tapas original productions. Tapas has not announced plans for its other original series.

For creators, the FAQ says titles stay available until the end of service unless they are removed earlier, and creators can keep publishing new material for now. Exclusivity clauses will be reviewed based on each agreement. That means each series' future depends on its own contract.

The Beginning After the End anime#

The story also has a TV anime. The first season premiered in April 2025 and the second in April 2026, each with 12 episodes, according to ANN's encyclopedia.
