Takopi's Original Sin Movie: Trailer and November 27 Release

Takopi's Original Sin: Thank You, See You Tomorrow opens in Japan on November 27, 2026. On October 22, the compilation film released its main trailer and a new main visual drawn by character designer Keita Nagahara. Tele performs the theme song.

The film re-edits all six episodes of the 2025 anime for theaters and adds new scenes. Here's the trailer, the visual, the theme song, the cast and how the film came about.

When does the Takopi's Original Sin movie come out?#

The film opens on Friday, November 27, 2026, at Shinjuku Wald 9 and other theaters in Japan, according to the official site. Clock Works and TBS are distributing it.

The film is rated PG-12. The official site notes that it contains some sensitive scenes. Viewers under 12 need guidance from a parent or guardian. An international release has not been announced.

The main trailer runs 1 minute 35 seconds on the TBS Anime YouTube channel. It also gives the first listen to the theme song, according to Anime News Network.

The new visual shows Shizuka sitting at her desk in a classroom with Takopi on her shoulder, while Marina and Azuma are further back. The tagline reads "To all of you who were always alone".

Advance tickets went on sale on October 23 in Japan, with a special design of Takopi playing with popcorn.

Theme song "Rabyu" by Tele#

Tele performs the theme song "Rabyu" (Love You). Tele also sang the ending theme of the TV anime.

Tele also shared a comment on the official site. The song was written for the girls of the story, who deserved to be loved. Tele wanted to tell them that one day they would be able to laugh about what they were going through.

What the director said#

Director Shinya Iino thanked everyone who watched the series. Iino said the warm response made the theatrical release possible. The big screen and sound offer a different experience, and Iino hopes both returning fans and newcomers will see it in theaters.

What is Takopi's Original Sin about?#

Takopi, an alien from the Happy Planet, comes to Earth to spread happiness and meets a girl named Shizuka. Takopi tries to make her smile with special "Happy Gadgets". But those good intentions slowly go wrong and pull the children into situations no one expected.

The story deals with the harsh realities children can face. The official site describes it as a story of pain and salvation.

From manga to award-winning anime#

Taizan 5's manga ran on Shueisha's Shonen Jump+ from December 2021 to March 2022. It was complete in two volumes and has passed 1.8 million copies in circulation. Viz Media publishes it in English.

The six-episode anime streamed on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, ABEMA, U-NEXT and other services from June 2025. It won the top anime prize at the Filmarks Awards 2025. In June 2026, it also won the Jury Award for a TV series at the Annecy festival.
