When Does Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 Come Out?#

Episode 1 airs on Sunday, January 10, 2027 at 5:00 p.m. It takes the Sunday evening anime slot on MBS, TBS and 26 affiliated stations. New episodes follow every Sunday for two back-to-back cours, or about six months.

The date came on September 16, 2026, alongside a new key visual carrying the tagline "Chaos erupts." The characters look very different in that art, because they now fight in a different game.

It has been a long wait. Season 2 ended on March 30, 2025, so the gap to Season 3 is about 21 months. The break between the first two seasons was just over six months.

The 65-second teaser went up on the official YouTube channel on July 7, 2026, and it's still the only Season 3 video. Its message is simple: the battlefield moves from Shangri-La Frontier to Galaxia Heroes: Chaos.

You can see the shift in the thumbnail alone. The art uses halftone dots and bold outlines, like a printed American comic book, which suits a game built around superheroes.

The teaser has passed 846,000 views. It has also collected more than 14,800 likes.

What Is Shangri-La Frontier Season 3 About?#

By the end of Season 2, Sunraku has made a name for himself. He picked up a curse from Lycagon the Nightslayer early on and teamed up with the rabbit NPC Emul. Then he helped Arthur Pencilgon and OiKatzo bring down Wethermon the Tombguard.

Now he takes a short break from Shangri-La Frontier. OiKatzo, known offline as pro gamer Kei Uomi, recruits him as a guest player for the Global Game Competition. Pencilgon signs up too.

The event runs on Galaxia Heroes: Chaos, a new VR fighting game built on the Shangri-La Frontier engine. Their opponent is StarRain, the strongest pro team in the United States. Against a lineup of star players, Sunraku will lean on game skill and tactics that stop just short of villainous.
