A Past Life That Sparks a New Beginning#

Ageha (Houchou) begins as a spoiled, fat five-year-old in a world of lords and counts. But he is one of a kind among heirs. He still remembers his previous life as a Japanese boy, where he liked to cook, sew, and sing.

Ageha is a lazy, spoilt brat who has all the laziness and perks of life. He is pushed by his old life to change. But he struggles to adjust to the new lifestyle. But he has bigger problems than getting used to it. Ageha meets his half-brother, who changes his life forever.

Meeting Regulus: A Brotherly Twist#

Regulus, his younger half-brother, arrives, and things start to change. Ageha knows Regulus will kill him for the family title one day, but rather than become angry, Ageha supports Regulus. He wants to avoid this fate, so he will take care of his brother.

Ageha’s lazy attitude gradually turns into care and protectiveness. He spoils Regulus and wants to raise him in a way to love and take responsibility. Their relationship as siblings is at the center of the story. There are care and playful antics and political clashes.

A Tale of Nobles and Fantasy#

The story is of loyalty and corruption in a world of noble power struggles. The count, a man of wealth and authority, is threatened by jealous nobles. Ageha must face danger to protect his brother and secure their future amidst the chaos of the court.

The cast of mystical creatures (including elves and gods) makes the scene even more magical. Ageha’s knowledge from Japan leads to some comical mishaps but also gives him interesting ideas for crafting and cooking. The combination of modern skills and fantasy is what makes this show so appealing.

From Novel to Manga and Now to Anime#

The novel series quickly gained traction after starting serialization on the Shsetsuka ni Nar website in August 2018. TO Books began publishing story volumes in January 2020 with illustrations by keepout. The publisher would go on to release more than a dozen volumes of the story. Seeing its success, the publisher would also launch a manga adaptation by Yokowake in September 2020. The manga would continue to gain a following of its own, further growing the series’ fanbase.

The series even made its way onto the stage, with theatrical performances in 2021 and 2023. Now, it’s ready to take the step into television, where the comedic daily life, fantasy elements, and emotional bonds will be brought to life in animation.

A Peek at the New Visual and Promotional Video#

The first promotional video and key visual hint at the show’s playful tone. Ageha’s round belly, chubby cheeks, and Regulus’s cute smile promise a lot of comedy and cuteness. Meanwhile, expansive backgrounds of the aristocratic estate and hints of magical realms promise a grand journey.

You get a sense of the brothers’ off-kilter bromance. You get a glimpse of supporting players, potential enemies, and gorgeous fantasy locations. All of it teases the series’ core ingredients: whimsy, charm, and a hint of suspense due to Ageha’s knowledge of the future.
