Ren Saitou
斉藤憐
Born in Pyongyang on the Korean Peninsula during the Japanese colonial era.
His family moved to Japan when he was five years old. When his daughter was that same age, he wrote his first children's book. Previously, he had studied Russian literature at university and participated in the creation of two drama centers that revolutionized theater in Japan. He wrote plays, screenplays for films, and directed many shows.
Was diagnosed with esophageal cancer and died from pneumonia at home, he was 70.
