Naruto Shadow Rising: New Manga by Kishimoto Announced
Masashi Kishimoto is making a new Naruto manga. It is titled Naruto Shadow Rising. The surprise announcement closed the Naruto panel at New York Comic Con on October 10, 2026, which is also Naruto's birthday.

When does Naruto Shadow Rising come out?#
Naruto Shadow Rising doesn't have a release date. The official Naruto site confirms the manga and its creator, but not when it starts. The magazine, the format and the length are also unannounced.
The next update has a date, though. More details will be revealed at the Naruto Jump Super Stage at Jump Festa 2027. The event takes place at Makuhari Messe in Japan on December 19 and 20, 2026.

The "super teaser" runs 1 minute and 31 seconds. It was published on the official Naruto and Boruto YouTube channel right after the panel.

What does the Naruto Shadow Rising teaser show?#
According to the official site, the teaser is made of storyboards from the manga. It opens on the stone faces of the six past Hokage watching over the Hidden Leaf Village. A seventh face is under construction.
The next scene carries the text "A new Naruto manga drawn by Masashi Kishimoto". After that, the four former members of Team 7 appear one by one:
- Naruto holding up the Hokage hat
- Kakashi with a beaming smile
- Sasuke standing dignified
- Sakura looking lovingly at a baby
The teaser ends with Naruto and Sasuke clashing. No story summary has been published, and the announcement does not say when the manga takes place.
Who is making Naruto Shadow Rising?#
Masashi Kishimoto is the creator of Naruto, and the new manga is presented as drawn by Kishimoto. That is the main point of the announcement. No other staff or collaborators have been named.
Kishimoto launched Naruto in Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999 and ended it in November 2014. Kishimoto has also written the Boruto sequel manga since November 2020, according to Anime News Network. That series continues as Boruto: Two Blue Vortex.
What else was announced at the Naruto panel?#
The panel was called "NARUTO: What's Next?". Junko Takeuchi and Noriaki Sugiyama, the voices of Naruto and Sasuke, appeared on stage. The official site puts the audience at about 3,000 people.
