A veteran jockey with 28 years of experience, he has won almost every G1 race in Japan. He is a master of unconventional tactics and holds the rare record of 102 second-place finishes in major races, but the only race he has never won is the Japan Derby. He saw his ideal horse racing in Satan Marukko, who dominated a central qualifying race, and applied to ride him.
